“Bizarre and ridiculous”: Rahul Gandhi on Modi's fitness video

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday shared his own fitness video on Twitter providing fodder for a spate of social media comments and memes. Modi posted the video nearly three weeks after he accepted the fitness challenge of Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

The video, which went viral on social platforms, also came up in discussion at the Iftar party hosted by Congress president Rahul Gandhi at a luxury hotel in Delhi on Wednesday evening.

"Did you see the PM's fitness video? It is ridiculous... I mean... It is bizarre... This is bankruptcy," Rahul said as he poked fun at the video.

Rahul then turned to CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury and, on a lighter vein, asked him to put out his fitness video as a challenge to Modi's.

While former presidents Pranab Mukherjee and Pratibha Patil, and former vice president Hamid Ansari silently heard the conversation, TMC leader Dinesh Trivedi, BSP leader Satish Chandra Misra and DMK's Kanimozhi had a hearty laugh.

Among others who attended the Congress chief's Iftar included former prime minister Manmohan Singh. UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi was not present as she is currently abroad.

While sharing the video, Modi had extended the challenge to Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, 2018 CWG medal winner Manika Batra and country's “brave IPS officers”. Kumaraswamy, however, was quick to reject the challenge, saying he was more concerned about the 'development fitness' of Karnataka.

Earlier, Congress leader Pramod Tewari termed the fitness video as an insult to the supreme sacrifice of the four BSF personnel who died in cross-border firing from Pakistan in Kashmir.
