When plumbers were called to unclog a toilet, the last thing they expected to find was the body of a two-day-old baby girl in it. In a shocking incident in Palakkad district of Kerala, authorities are baffled by the discovery of a baby in the toilet of Dr Abdul Rahman and have launched a probe into the matter.

According to The News Minute, the domestic help of Dr Rahman complained that the toilet attached to the consulting room was clogged with muddy water. Plumbers were called to unclog it the next day and when they drained out the commode, they found what looked like “a ball” inside. They were horrified to find the baby with the placenta still attached to it.

“There wasn't much of a foul smell emanating from the toilet. The body hadn't decomposed when we recovered it. But the baby's placenta was intact and there was blood inside the commode. Seeing the colour of the blood, the domestic worker mistook it for muddy water,” the police told The News Minute.

Dr Rahman is a physician who offers consultation at his home in the evenings. The police believe that the mother delivered the baby in the commode and left it. Records of Dr Rahman's patients are being checked to track down the parents.

The baby's body was sent to Thrissur Medical College for post mortem.
