Bridgerton star Yerin Ha reveals SHOCKING skin issue after steamy bathtub scene – What is folliculitis?

After the latest season of Bridgerton aired, star Yerin Ha revealed she developed folliculitis following an intense bathtub scene with Luke Thompson

When the latest season of Bridgerton aired, conversations sparkled with talk of romance, scandal, and Regency fashion. But in one of the post-season interviews, a surprisingly practical health topic surfaced among cast discussions: folliculitis.

During a media interaction following the season’s release, Brigerton star Yerin Ha candidly mentioned how she developed a skin condition after the most talked-about steamy bathtub scene with her co-star Luke Thompson. Beneath the flawless makeup and intricate costumes, long shooting hours, frequent shaving, tight wigs, and restrictive clothing was a less glamorous side of filming.

What is folliculitis?

As per the Cleveland Clinic, folliculitis is a common skin condition and occurs when a hair follicle becomes infected or inflamed. This condition may look like acne, often starting out as small red bumps.

While it is usually harmless and temporary, folliculitis can be uncomfortable — especially for actors. In Bridgerton, actors wear layers of synthetic fabrics, corsets, gloves, stockings, and tightly secured wigs for hours at a time. Sweat and friction create an environment where hair follicles can become irritated or infected.

Cleveland Clinic mentions the following ways to take care of the irritated skin:

  • Using antibacterial cleansers to clean the skin. This will limit the amount of bacteria on your skin.
  • Applying warm towels to your irritated skin to sooth the discomfort.
  • Using anti-itch creams.

Folliculitis infections usually involve bacteria and yeast entering the hair follicles. This condition can be prevented by making some changes to the normal self-care routine. This can limit the amount of infectious material in your hair follicles.

By being open about the skin condition openly, the Bridgerton cast helped normalise a condition many people quietly experience.
