'Dhurandhar 2' IMAX version to be available only from March 19; advance previews to screen regular versions

'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' sees the return of Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi

Those who are wondering if the advance previews of "Dhurandhar 2" will screen the IMAX versions on IMAX screens may want to think again before booking for the same — or reschedule their plans — because it has come to light that the IMAX version will begin screening only from March 19.

A Bollywood Hungama report quotes a source who said, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge will be played in the IMAX screens in India. However, it’ll be a non-IMAX version that’ll be screened in these theatres on March 18. Those who'll buy tickets of the IMAX screen from March 19 will get to enjoy the film's IMAX version.”

The paid previews will be held on 18th March from 5 pm onwards across India.

Generally, paid previews don't have a very wide release because if the audience response doesn't go to plan, it could affect the film straightaway and the opening day's numbers could also suffer a heavy dent. Needless to say, the producers of "Dhurandhar 2" are totally confident about their product, and the paid previews have gotten an incredibly wide release.

Advance booking trends for "Dhurandhar 2" are mind-boggling across the country, but it shouldn't come as a surprise considering the performance of the original. It must also be noted that these paid previews are seeing astronomical prices, starting from Rs 700 and beyond. In Gold class, reclines are being priced beyond Rs 2000.

Despite such premium pricing, "Dhurandhar 2" is seeing unprecedented response and has set a new benchmark in paid previews. The advance day 1 booking gross is already close to Rs 10 crore, as per trade portal Sacnilk. Earlier, it was "Stree 2" with approximately Rs 8.75 crore nett that held the record for highest paid previews record and that has been overtaken already. "Dhurandhar 2" will go past Rs 20 crore nett easily and probably Rs 30 crore as well.

Unlike its predecessor, "Dhurandhar 2" is also releasing in dubbed versions as well. Therefore, the three-figure mark on March 19 looks a realistic possibility. Despite releasing without any dubbed versions, "Dhurandhar" still clocked over Rs 1200 crore worldwide, showcasing an unprecedented theatrical run.

"Dhurandhar: The Revenge" sees the return of Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, among others. Produced by Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios and Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar of B62 Studios, it is written and directed by Aditya Dhar.
