With just a few months to go before the release of Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, a new report has revealed how much the highly anticipated sequel to Dhurandhar has already earned.
According to sources in the know, Dhurandhar 2 has bagged a whopping Rs 245 crore from non-theatrical rights deals alone, a Pinkvilla report said.
As the name suggests, non-theatrical rights deal with the permissions for a film or TV show's public screening outside of cinemas.
The Rs 245-crore-figure comprises a digital streaming rights deal with JioHotstar worth Rs 150 crore, a satellite rights (all languages) deal with Star Network for Rs 50 crore, and a music rights deal with T-Series for Rs 45 crore, the report added.
This figure for Aditya Dhar's upcoming film also makes it one of Bollywood's highest-valued non-theatrical rights deals in recent times.
The figures for theatrical rights are currently kept under wraps.
This figure is also almost twice what Dhurandhar bagged in its non-theatrical rights deals with Netflix, Star Gold, and Saregama Music.
According to reports, the first in the two-film series had secured non-theatrical rights worth Rs 140 crore.
Of this, the digital streaming rights deal with Netflix was valued at Rs 85 crore, the satellite rights deal with Star Gold at Rs 40 crore, and the music rights deal with Saregama Music at Rs 15 crore.
The wait is on for the March 19 release of Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi, and—if reports are to be believed—Akshaye Khanna, among others.
