‘Dhurandhar’ final box office collection: How much did the Ranveer Singh thriller gross in theatres ahead of its Netflix release?

Released on December 5, the Bollywood action-spy-thriller first film had crossed Rs 800 crore (net) in India, and earned more than Rs 1,200 crore worldwide

'Dhurandhar' is now streaming on Netflix

Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar is expected to begin streaming on Netflix from today, 30 January. But do you know how much the movie managed to earn at the box office over 56 days?

Before coming to the figures, it is worth mentioning that the release of Border 2 gave Dhurandhar a stiff fight in theatres. Aditya Dhar's magnum opus was enjoying a monopoly in the Hindi heartland until the war drama gained screens and lived up to expectations, despite the big shoes of the iconic first part it had to fill. While Border 2 collected ₹11.25 crore on Thursday, Dhurandhar earned ₹33 lakh. In seven days, Border 2 managed to collect ₹224.25 crore, whereas Dhurandhar had collected ₹207.25 crore in its first seven days, Hindi media reports said.

Now, looking at the broader picture, box office tracker Sacnilk said that Dhurandhar earned a net collection of ₹835.83 crore in India, while its India gross has crossed ₹1,000 crore. It collected ₹5.85 crore in its eighth week in India alone, the website added. The movie had an overall 14.23% occupancy on Thursday. Meanwhile, according to Wikipedia, Ranveer Singh's film has collected ₹1,344.74 crore in 56 days globally. This makes it the highest-grossing Indian film domestically and the second-highest-grossing Indian film worldwide.

Sacnilk labelled Dhurandhar an "All-Time Blockbuster", claiming it has grossed ₹298.75 crore overseas and collected ₹1,301.5 crore globally.

Dhurandhar became the highest all-time Hindi grosser in India, having overtaken the lifetime collections of Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 on the 33rd day of its theatrical run. With this major milestone, all the important records have been conquered by Dhurandhar except for the opening day and opening weekend, which the sequel will aim to hunt down.

The Week said in its review of the movie that, "...despite the lags caused by all this fluff, it picks up momentum again. The segments pertaining to the 26/11 attacks are skilfully handled, despite the awareness of what’s coming. When the film shows the Pakistanis’ celebratory moment, it hits hard—conveyed particularly through Ranveer’s reaction. This—the way the story is constructed to lead up to the aftermath of the attacks—was exceedingly intelligent writing."
