Hulu's 'The Handmaid's Tale' sequel 'The Testaments' gets premiere date

'One Battle After Another' star Chase Infiniti is headlining the series as the main character, Agnes Mackenzie, who was earlier named Hannah Bankole, played by Jordana Blake in the preceding series

The TV series adaptation of Margaret Atwood's The Testaments, the sequel to The Handmaid's Tale, has an official premiere date. Hulu, which is backing the show, has announced that the follow-up to the Elizabeth Moss-fronted series will begin streaming on April 8 with the first three episodes, followed by one episode every week. 

One Battle After Another breakout Chase Infiniti is leading the show. The Testaments is set five years after the events of The Handmaid's Tale. Chase Infiniti plays the main character, Agnes Mackenzie, who was earlier named Hannah Bankole, in the original series. However, the character was played by Jordana Blake.

According to the official synopsis, The Testaments is “a dramatic coming of age story set in Gilead.” that revolves around “young teens Agnes (Chase Infiniti), dutiful and pious, and Daisy (Lucy Halliday), a new arrival and convert from beyond Gilead’s borders. As they navigate the gilded halls of Aunt Lydia’s (Ann Dowd) elite preparatory school for future wives, a place where obedience is instilled brutally and always with divine justification, their bond becomes the catalyst that will upend their past, their present, and their future.”

Created by Bruce Miller, who was previously involved The Handmaid's Tale, and later stepped down to focus on this one, the series has Mike Barker directing the first three episodes. The cast also features Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Birva Pandya, and Kira Guloien.

Miller also serves as executive producer and showrunner, with Warren Littlefield, Elisabeth Moss, Steve Stark, Shana Stein, Maya Goldsmith, John Weber, Sheila Hockin, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, and Mike Barker involved as executive producers.
