'Border 2' box office collection day 3: Explosive upward trend on Sunday; set to fly past Rs 100 crore in India

'Border 2' is recording a massive jump on its third day at the box office and is certain to zoom past the Rs 100 crore mark in India today

'Border 2' is set to fly past the Rs 100 crore mark in India with an explosive Sunday on the cards

After a superb jump on Saturday, Border 2 is going berserk on its first Sunday at the domestic box office. The opening day at Rs 30 crore nett did seem a tad underwhelming, given that it was the bare minimum expectation for the film on the release day. All indications were pointing at the figures to comfortably breach Rs 30 crore nett and be closer to Rs 35 crore nett.

Hence, that first day figure was slightly disappointing, although it was still a great start for the film. Border 2 then shot upwards on Saturday by recording a strong 20 percent jump. Day 2 saw collections in the vicinity of Rs 35 crore nett and while the jump is Rs 5 crore nett only, the encouraging fact is that many mass belts that stayed lukewarm on the Friday roared upwards on Saturday.

On Sunday, the trends are even better as Border 2 has almost gotten close to the collections of the opening day with prime time shows yet to start. This suggests carnage at the box office for the film today and the Rs 40 crore nett mark is a bare minimum. In fact, estimates suggest collections closer to Rs 45 crore nett and perhaps, a bit more too.

Remember, the Monday factor won't come into play for this Sunday as the national holiday of Republic Day (January 26) is on Monday. Which means that Sunday should behave just like a Saturday and Monday is also expected to be a massive day. Of course, that was the point of releasing Border 2 on a Republic Day weekend and the film is making optimal use of this factor.

Border 2 is set to fly past the Rs 100 crore nett mark in India today and is eyeing a four-day extended weekend number of at least Rs 135-140 crore nett. The word-of-mouth appears to be on the positive side and the film is set to have a strong run, if these trends are anything to go by.
