Actor Ajith's racing journey to be turned into a documentary, to be released on THIS date: Report

The documentary will feature behind-the-scenes footage from races in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and will have a regular theatrical run before an extended version is released on a streaming platform

Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar's racing adventures are being recorded for an upcoming documentary feature directed by AL Vijay. The plan is to release it on May 1, 2026, on the occasion of the actor's birthday.

According to a source quoted by IANS, the documentary will have a 90-minute runtime and is intended as an endeavour to inspire youngsters. The source said, "Scores of youngsters have dreams that remain unfulfilled. Life makes their dreams drift away from them. This will be an attempt to inspire them to pursue their dreams."

The source further added that the idea is also to popularise motorsport and remove the impression that racing is a rich man's game. "Until the 1983 World Cup, when a youngster called Kapil Dev led India to win the trophy, cricket too was considered an elitist game. Similarly, we are hoping that this will popularise motorsport in India as well," said the source.

Aside from the races, including the upcoming ones that are scheduled to be held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the documentary will also include the behind-the-scenes activities preceding a race instead of focusing only on the driving.

As for the release plans, the source told IANS that the documentary will be released in theatres. It will  be screened just like a movie, comprising two halves each of 45-minute duration, split by an intermission. An extended version of the same will be released on streaming at a later date.
