Actor Dev Patel was recently spotted on a Vande Bharat train by a fan going from Delhi to Agra.

The actor is currently filming his coming directorial, The Peasant, a story set in medieval India.

The fan who shared images of him on Reddit said that they spotted Patel and his crew on the train. The fan had approached him to ask about the film. However, when they went up to him, the actor hilariously denied that he was Dev Patel, just replying “mmm no” to "Are you Dev Patel?".

“I was in the Vandebharat from Delhi to Agra today, I saw Dev Patel and crew. I went up to him to ask him if he’s here’s shooting for a film, but when I asked him, “hey, are you Dev Patel?” He just blatantly said “mmm no”, that was pretty funny lol” the fan shared.

The image the fan posted showed Patel wearing a white shirt with a blue Jacket, standing next to a crew member.

Some in the chat recognised some of his crew, and others joked that he was on the train because his IndiGo flight got cancelled.

One person joked, “It would be funny if OP just went to a random person and asked if they were Dev Patel.”

Patel, who rose to fame with the Danny Boyle film Slumdog Millionaire, made his directorial debut last year with Monkey Man.

The actor-filmmaker is now directing the film The Peasant, which was described as an “adrenalized revenge thriller” similar to Braveheart, King Arthur, and John Wick.

The film’s script originally featured an Italian shepherd as the protagonist, but Patel decided to take the story to India in the 1300s.

"Set in the 1300s, it centers on a shepherd who embarks on a rage-fueled campaign against a group of mercenary knights who ransacked his community, revealing himself to be more than he seems," The Hollywood Reporter wrote.

Patel has starred in the films The Green Knight, The Lion, Hotel Mumbai, and The Man Who Knew Infinity.
