Production has officially commenced for the third season of Netflix's One Piece. The streamer had announced a renewal in August while dropping a sneak peek of Season 2.
Filming has commenced in Cape Town, South Africa with the original Straw Hat crew — Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji — returning.
They will be joined by Season 2 cast members Charithra Chandran (Miss Wednesday), Mikaela Hoover (Tony Tony Chopper), Joe Manganiello (Mr. 0), Lera Abova (Miss All Sunday), and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Nefartari Cobra).
Based on Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga series of the same name, One Piece tells the tale of Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), an ambitious young pirate who, in the hopes of being named the next 'King of Pirates', sets about on a treasure hunt along with its crew christened 'Straw Hats' comprising swordsman Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), cartographer Nami (Emily Rudd), storyteller Usopp (Jacob Romero), and chef Sanji (Taz Skylar).
The show's title comes from 'One Piece', the treasure in the possession of Luffy's rival, Gold Roger (Michael Dorman).
The new season will have the principal characters taking on more challenging adversaries and dangerous terrains.
"Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line — a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn. As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies," the official logline said.
Joe Tracz is back as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the second season with Matt Owens, alongside Ian Stokes as third showrunner, writer and exec producer.
Meanwhile, Season 2 has been slated for premiere on March 10, 2026.
