Keanu Reeves is set to team up with director Tim Miller for what seems like a project tailor-made for the star's action hero side. Titled Shiver, the project is bankrolled by filmmaker Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, Kingsman) and Aaron Ryder (The Prestige, Arrival).
Scripted by Ian Shorr, Shiver has been revealed as a time loop-centric sci-fi concept. It has been likened by The Hollywood Reporter to big-scale adventures such as Tom Cruise's Edge of Tomorrow and Blake Lively's survival thriller The Shallows.
Of the little plot details available, Reeves reportedly plays a miserable smuggler who encounters a combination of carnage, deadly mercenaries, and hungry sharks, followed by attempts to get out of a complex time loop in which he finds himself trapped.
Tim Miller is known for his collaboration with David Fincher on the Netflix anthology Love, Death & Robots (a collection of stories in the sci-fi, supernatural, and fantasy genres) and working with James Cameron on Terminator: Dark Fate.
Deadpool, his directorial debut, starred Ryan Reynolds.
Reeves, last seen in Good Fortune and the John Wick spinoff, Ballerina, in an extended cameo, is also expected to return for the fifth chapter of the assassin franchise.
Released on October 17, Good Fortune marked the directorial debut of Aziz Ansari. In the comedy, Reeves plays a “budget guardian angel” trying to teach Ansari's character that money can’t buy happiness. To prove his point, he swaps the latter’s life with that of his wealthy employer, played by Seth Rogen.
