Catch up with ‘Man on the Run’: A new look at Paul McCartney’s story

Directed by Academy Award winner Morgan Neville, the film premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and has been acquired by Amazon MGM for global streaming on Prime Video

Former Beatles star and living legend Paul McCartney’s legacy is set to be honoured in the documentary film ‘Man on the Run’, which highlights the musician’s post-Beatles years.

The film, directed by the Academy Award winner Morgan Neville, had its premiere at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado on August 30. With Amazon MGM acquiring the distribution rights, the documentary is slated to stream globally on Prime Video from February 25, 2026.

It is a documentary film that seeks to explore the life of the Beatles veteran from his formation of the band ‘Wings’ with his first wife, Linda, through the 1970s, while incorporating unseen and rare archival materials. The feature aims to use a uniquely vulnerable lens to cover the solo career of McCartney, which includes the hardships he faced while redefining his music to blend in with a new era.

The film gets its name from the 1973 song ‘Band on the Run’, composed by McCartney and Wings. Billboard praised the song in 2014 for having “three distinct parts that don’t depend on a chorus yet still manage to feel anthemic.” With international acclaim, the song became one of the most famous songs of the band.

Additionally, the film sets the stage for a bigger partnership involving McCartney, Amazon, and Universal Music Group, with plans to feature exclusive music releases, special merchandise drops through Amazon Music, and commentary from the man himself.

McCartney also has his new book, ‘Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run’, coming up on Amazon and Audible on November 4, while a definitive anthology ‘WINGS’ and a limited-edition vinyl are arriving on November 7.
