It's been three weeks since Pawan Kalyan's gangster movie They Call Him OG released. Now, Netflix has announced that they're bringing the action-packed movie to the platform on October 23.
Directed by Sujeeth, the Telugu-language crime saga has the Power Star playing a gangster named Ojas Gambheera who returns to Mumbai following a ten-year absence to settle scores with a rival played by Emraan Hashmi. The movie marked the latter's Telugu acting debut. Priyanka Arul Mohan, Arjun Das, Harish Uthaman, Prakash Raj, and Sriya Reddy are among the principal cast members. They Call Him OG was jointly produced by DVV Danayya and Kalyan Dasari under the banner of DVV Entertainments.
In its review of the movie, THE WEEK wrote: "For a film of this genre, it is extremely difficult for a director to crack the code in a commercial format, because there is bound to be a feeling of deja vu in many of the sequences. You need to either have a racy screenplay that has enough thrills irrespective of the predictability or have enough high moments to make up for the lack of creativity in the storyline. Unfortunately, They call him OG does neither and ends up as a film that fails to create any solid impact. Sujeeth's writing lacks the spark and most of the major plot points in the film are just mundane. There is no adrenaline rush and the emotional depth is also sorely missing, something that is critical if you want the audience to resonate with the characters."
Shot by Ravi K Chandran and Manoj Paramahamsa, the movie has music by Thaman S.
