'Maharani' Season 4 on SonyLIV: Premiere date of Huma Qureshi's series announced

Directed by Puneet Prakash, Season 4 will also see returning cast members including Shweta Basu Prasad, Vipin Sharma, and Amit Sial

Season 4 of Huma Qureshi's SonyLIV series Maharani has finally a premiere date. The streamer announced that the new chapter, which promises "higher stakes, fiercer battles, and a bolder portrayal of its central character, Rani Bharti," will unfold on November 7.

Launched in 2021, the series, which tracks Rani Bharti's evolution from a homemaker to Bihar Chief Minister, was created by Subhash Kapoor, who co-wrote it with Nandan Singh and Umashankar Singh.

Directing duties were handled by Karan Sharma (Season 1), Ravindra Gautam (Season 2), and Saurabh Bhave (Season 3). Puneet Prakash directs the fourth season, with backing from Kangra Talkies Pvt Ltd.

In Season 4, Qureshi says, Rani Bharti "enters the nation's toughest battlefield," adding that the stakes are "national, the power games more brutal, and every move could make or break her. It's the most daring, intense, and unfiltered version of Rani we've ever seen."

Other Season 4 cast members include Shweta Basu Prasad, Vipin Sharma, Amit Sial, Vineet Kumar, Shardul Bharadwaj, Kani Kusruti, and Pramod Pathak.

The first season, which co-starred Sohum Shah as Rani's politician husband Bheema Bharti, Bihar's Chief Minister, saw the transformation of an ordinary housewife after being named by him as his successor. In the second, her challenges included a political scandal and eventually locking horns with her husband. In the third, she deals with the aftermath of her husband's assassination and sought vengeance for the same.

Qureshi, who recently appeared alongside Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi in Jolly LLB 3, is said to be part of Kannada star Yash's Toxic: A Fairytale for Grownups.
