Somebody is foraying into a relatively lighter and pleasant terrain. After experiencing the most life-threatening situations in Squid Game and playing a Jedi in Star Wars: The Acolyte, Korean actor Lee Jung-jae will be seen in a romantic comedy.
Titled Nice to Not Meet You, the series is set to premiere on Prime Video on November 3.
Set in the world of entertainment, Jung-jae plays an actor who, tired of being stuck in a long-running detective television series, hopes to make a switch to more serious character dramas. His path crosses with that of a headstrong political journalist (Lim Ji-yeon) who is forced to switch to entertainment journalism while pursuing a complicated story.
The latter, covering a beat she is unfamiliar with, suddenly finds herself being pulled into his world. Their seemingly opposite characters will eventually find a common ground, leading to an unexpected romance, with enough laughs for company. Lim Ji-yeon is known for The Glory, The Tale of Lady Ok, and Lies Hidden in My Garden.
Directed by Kim Ga-ram (Good Partner, Nevertheless) and written by Jung Yeo-rang (Doctor Cha), Nice to Not Meet You promises a "refreshing mix of humour, heart, and industry satire."
An immensely popular actor with numerous hits under his belt in his home turf, Lee Jung-jae appeared in all three seasons of Squid Game. He made his directorial debut in 2022 with The Hunt, an action-packed espionage thriller set during a notably tumultuous time in Korean history. He made his English-language debut in The Acolyte, as a Jedi Master who was compared to the characters played by Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor in the Star Wars prequel movies.
