'Kill Bill' to be re-released as one film, with additional footage

In the Quentin Tarantino revenge saga, Uma Thurman plays The Bride, a former assassin seeking vengeance against her former collaborators who left her for dead

Here's an exciting update for fans of Quentin Tarantino, especially his Kill Bill films. The maverick filmmaker's two-volume revenge saga will be re-released in theatres as one film, titled Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, on December 5.

The new version will reportedly include a previously unseen animated sequence with a 7½-minute duration, aside from eliminating the Vol. 1 cliffhanger ending and the Vol. 2 recap opening. The team is also releasing a limited version in 70mm and 35mm.

“I wrote and directed it as one movie — and I’m so glad to give the fans the chance to see it as one movie. The best way to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is at a movie theater in glorious 70mm or 35mm. Blood and guts on a big screen in all its glory!” said Tarantino in an official statement.

In the blood-soaked saga that draws from Hong Kong action movies and martial arts classics, aside from Japanese samurai films and spaghetti westerns, Uma Thurman plays The Bride, a former assassin seeking vengeance against her former collaborators who left her for dead.

David Carradine plays the principal antagonist, while Lucy Liu, Darryl Hannah, Vivica A. Fox, Gordon Liu, and the late Michael Madsen portrayed members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, of which The Bride was once a part.

Produced by Lawrence Bender, who also produced Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, and Inglourious Basterds, the film's combined gross totalled $333 million.
