Wednesday (September 24) was a lukewarm day for the Kerala Box Office which recorded a cumulative gross of Rs 1.58 crore approximately. A major chunk of the revenue was generated by Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra which grossed Rs 90 lakh on its 28th day, taking its overall Kerala gross to Rs 107.32 crore.
Thudarum's all-time record in the state of Rs 118.90 crore is well within sight and this Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer seems on course to wipe out that major record over the next week. The worldwide gross of the film is also racing towards the prestigious Rs 300 crore mark, which will make it the first-ever Mollywood film to reach the milestone.
The other Onam release, Mohanlal's Hridayapoorvam, is also steady at the box office, albeit at lower levels. On its 28th day, this family drama directed by Sathyan Anthikadu grossed Rs 13.25 lakh, taking its overall gross in the state to Rs 41.82 crore. The worldwide gross of the film has gone past the Rs 80 crore mark and is a clean hit at the box office from theatrical revenue alone.
That makes it three hits in a row for Mohanlal in 2025 and he is also the only Mollywood superstar to have three Rs 50 crore films on the trot. When compared to the mammoth revenue of Empuraan and Thudarum, the collections of Hridayapoorvam may seem pale but for its genre, these are still solid numbers.
With the Lokah juggernaut running riot, Hridayapoorvam managed to withstand the onslaught purely due to Mohanlal's stardom. Asif Ali's latest release Mirage has had underwhelming numbers at the box office. On Wednesday, the film registered a gross of Rs 34.50 lakh, taking its overall Kerala gross to Rs 4.39 crore.
With negative reviews, the film will find it hard to sustain in the coming days and is set to become a box office flop. Demon Slayter Infinity Castle (Rs 5.45 lakh), OG (Rs 3 lakh from 7 premiere shows) and Jolly LLB 3 (Rs 1.60 lakh) all collected steadily with the Anime flick set to touch Rs 5 crore gross in the state.
