The makers of 'Kantara: A Legend - Chapter 1'—a highly anticipated prequel to mythic action-thriller 'Kantara' (2022) featuring Rishab Shetty—have finally revealed the synopsis of the prequel, giving an insight into which direction the story will head to next.

Ahead of the prequel's worldwide release on October 2, the film's detailed synopsis appeared on US e-ticketing platform Fandango—before even appearing on BookMyShow (one of India's biggest e-ticketing platforms) or in-house cinema applications, such as PVR Cinemas.

According to the Fandango synopsis, this film will see Rishab Shetty turn into a fierce Naga Sadhu, "a warrior-mystic destined to become the bridge between mortals and the divine".

"Ancient rituals, supernatural forces, and tribal struggles collide in a cinematic spectacle like no other—this isn’t just a prequel, it’s the origin of a myth," the site said.

It adding that the story was set in 300 CE during the reign of the Kadamba dynasty: long before the events of the 2022 epic that saw Rishab Shetty play both father and son—both the eponymous Kantara, a Daiva Kola performer, and his son Kaadubettu Shiva.

The 2022 film also received critical acclaim, amassing Rs 407.82 crores worldwide. This led to Amazon Prime Video securing streaming rights for the film in a deal worth Rs 125 crores, inked earlier this week, as per a Pinkvilla report.

B. Ajaneesh Loknath will return to compose the prequel's music, following his critically acclaimed, emotionally charged score for the first film.

The prequel will feature 'Sapta Saagaradaache Ello' fame Rukmini Vasanth opposite Rishab Shetty, in addition to Gulshan Devaiah, Jayaram and Rakesh Poojari.

It is currently in post-production, reportedly engaging 20 VFX studios from across the world to bring Shetty's vision to life.
