'Sinners' OTT release: Michael B Jordan's blockbuster to stream in India on JioHotstar on THIS date

Starring Michael B Jordan in dual roles, the Ryan Coogler-directed film, which offered a fresh, inventive take on the vampire story, also features Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, and Delroy Lindo

Ryan Coogler's immensely successful box-office hit 'Sinners' will be available for streaming in India on JioHotstar. The film, which released theatrically on April 18th, will stream from Sept. 18 on the platform. The advantage of this release is that there are no additional charges, meaning JioHotstar subscribers can watch it for free.  Until now, the film was made available on other streaming platforms only with an additional rental charge.

Featuring Michael B Jordan in dual roles, the film also features Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, and Delroy Lindo as integral characters. The success of 'Sinners' in theatres is a testament to the audience's craving for entertaining and original films. Its remarkable box office performance, critical acclaim, and record-breaking achievements are testaments to this.

In its review of the film, THE WEEK wrote: "Writer-director Ryan Coogler's weaving of multiple genres and themes is so remarkable that it takes a while to get some sense of the film's overall behaviour and intentions. We see gangsters. We see white supremacists. We see Blues musicians. We see mystics. We see preachers. We see vampire hunters. We see Black people feeling empowered. Sure, there is much to praise about the immersive, IMAX-friendly experience (shot by Coogler's frequent collaborator, cinematographer Autumn Durald Akapaw). But the film also gets us to care about its strong emotional core. Coogler's storytelling approach impresses in the manner in which he dispenses pieces of information about his characters' backgrounds."

One particular sequence blew audiences' minds: a fluid, stunningly staged sequence involving music, which blends past, present and future.

The film's total worldwide gross now stands at $366.7 million against a reported budget of $90-100 million.
