Vijay Devarakonda's Kingdom will be hitting the streaming space nearly a month after its theatrical release. The big-scale Gowtam Tinnanuri directorial, touted as an action-packed mass entertainer, was released in theatres on July 31. The film will be available to stream on Netflix on August 27, the platform announced. In Hindi, the film will stream under the title Samrajya.
Despite its action-thriller narrative and carefully coordinated fight scenes, the film was met with a mixed to poor reception upon release. However, netizens took notice of Malayalam actor Venkitesh's strikiningly villainous turn.
Audiences who went into the theatres with high expectations exited disappointed. While many lauded Deverakonda’s performance, others noted that the plot felt “forced” and that Anirudh Ravichander’s musical composition fell flat.
Kingdom also faced stringent competition from the Hindi release Saiyaara, an unexpected hit, which is still dominating theatres. However, the film reportedly ranks as Deverakonda’s second-best film in terms of monetary collection.
The film's big-screen release was postponed twice, with the original plan to release on May 30. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the makers couldn't make it, and later announced a July 4 date, but they couldn't make it either. The makers had mentioned the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor as reasons for not releasing the film then.
What's ‘Kingdom’ about?

Suri races against time to thwart and expose an incoming national security threat while battling inner demons. The film also stars Satyadev, Bhagyashri Borse, and Ayyappa P. Sharma.
