Producer KL Narayana, who is bankrolling SS Rajamouli's upcoming big-budget extravaganza, tentatively titled SSMB29, with Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, has reportedly shared an update on the film's upcoming shooting schedule which involves a major action setpiece during a recent interaction with the press.
Narayana shared that they initially planned to shoot the action sequences in July in Kenya but postponed it due to the political strife. The new shooting schedule will have the makers shooting the same in the third week of September in East Africa. Kenya's capital Nairobi and Tanzania are said to be the locations in this schedule.
As per reports, the film's overall budget nears Rs 1000 crore. The makers are aiming for a 2027 release, given the extensive technical work involved. Originally planned as a two-parter, it was later decided to release the project as one film. There are also speculations as to the film's title.
On Saturday, August 9, Rajamouli shared a teaser poster of the film, with the hashtag being a likely hint: #GlobeTrotter
In a statement, the filmmaker wrote that the idea of sharing pictures and doing press conferences doesn't appeal to him as they won't do justice to what he is currently making. "It has been a while since we began shooting, and we appreciate your eagerness to know about the film.
However, the story and score of this film are so vast that I feel mere pictures of press conferences cannot do it justice," he said, adding that a "never-before-seen" reveal will be shared online in November to "showcase the essence, depth, and immersive world" he's creating.
The plot details of the big-scale film are currently being kept under wraps. However, there are hints of Mahesh Babu playing an adventurer on a special quest, which the teaser poster seems to confirm, aside from the implication that it will be an action-packed ride shot across the globe. His character is wearing a chain with a locket made up of elements associated with Lord Shiva, suggesting the presence of mythological elements, too.
