Suniel Shetty is gearing up for the release of the second season of his web series Hunter: Tootega Nahi Todega. Shetty’s debut in Bollywood came at the age of 30 with the 1992 Deepak Anand directorial Balwaan. Though his career bloomed later than most of his Bollywood peers, the actor has carved a solid niche in the industry with hits like Hera Pheri and Border.

However, the actor is of the belief that it is harder to break into the film industry now than earlier, citing the intense scrutiny of young stars. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Shetty said that up-and-comers nowadays have to work threefold to impress the audience. "Earlier, they took it for granted that I'd be a part of this. This is my hierarchy, and I'd be a part of this,” he said. “Today, the kid knows to educate (themselves) and come prepared as an actor, with their acting, body, and everything else. You need to be absolutely prepared. Go to school and come; don't believe you can walk into high school and college without finishing the basics."
With the dawn of the digital age and rapid discourse on social media, Shetty believes audiences sometimes misuse their power, aided and abetted by the media. "Everybody is judgmental. Everybody believes they are a critic. And it's not critical appreciation of cinema. It's critical trashing of cinema that's going on."
