Boney Kapoor-Bhutani Group-backed firm wins bid to develop Film City near Noida

The financial bid for the greenfield project was opened on Tuesday afternoon

The Bhutani Group and Boney Kapoor have been selected to develop a film city in Jewar.

The group is a commercial infrastructure enterprise while Kapoor has been in the film production business since 1980, working in the Hindi, Telugu and Tamil industries.

The bid was swung by the partnership as it offered the highest gross revenue sharing at 18 per cent. The second bid offered a share of just over 15 per cent.

Revenue-sharing bid would mean that the Yamuna Expressway Development (under which the project will fall) will be entitled to 18 per cent of the income. In turn, the development authority will provide land and infrastructure. All construction within the film city and development of facilities will be the duty of the winning bidder.

In the first phase, the film city will be erected over 230 acres of land.

The Public-Private Partnership Bid Evaluation Committee (PPPBEC) went through the bids for the development of the first phase of the film city on January 30. Earlier, on January 27, all the bidders had made presentations on their proposals before the PPPBEC. Subsequently, the bids were technically evaluated.

Four bidders—Bayview Projects LLP, 4 Lions Films Pvt Ltd, Supersonic Techno build Pvt Ltd and Super Cassettes Industries Pvt Ltd.—were found technically qualified.

Actor Akshay Kumar, producer K.C. Bokadia and T-Series were also in the final race. The final presentations by the bidders had included their vision, concept, timeline and highlights.

A letter of award to the winning bidder will be provided after approval by the cabinet.

In the winning consortium, Bayview projects LLP holds 48 per cent share and will be responsible for operations and maintenance; Parmesh Construction Company with 26 per cent share will be responsible for finances while the remainder is with Noida Cyberpark Private Limited which shall provide technical support.

Boney Kapoor heads Bayview.
