'Sacred Games' scene of Saif throwing away kada insults Sikhs: Akali MLA

He has threatened legal action against Netflix and Anurag Kashyap

Delhi Akali Dal Manjinder Singh Sirsa has warned of legal action against Netflix series Sacred Games for offending sentiments of the Sikh community. He was referring to a scene in which Saif Ali Khan's character Sartaj throws away his 'kada', which is a religious symbol of the Sikhs.

He demanded director Anurag Kashyap to remove the scene immediately, or face legal consequences. Taking to Twitter on Monday, Sirsa wrote: “I wonder why Bollywood continues to disrespect our religious symbols! Anurag Kashyap deliberatly puts this scene in #SacredGamesS2 where Saif Ali Khan throws his Kada in sea! A KADA is not an ordinary ornament. It’s the pride of Sikhs & a blessing of Guru Sahib (sic).”

The second season of the Netflix original series released on August 15. Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui returned as Sartaj Singh and Ganesh Gaitonde, and the new season features Pankaj Tripathi in a full-fledged role as Guruji. Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey are the latest additions to the series.

The first season of the series, based on Vikram Chandra's award-winning book of the same name, premiered last year
