Television actor Karan Oberoi, popular for his role in the TV show Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, was arrested by Mumbai Police for allegedly raping and blackmailing a woman.
According to media reports, the actor allegedly raped the woman after promising to marry her. He was in a relationship with her since 2016.
Karan Oberoi has been booked under sections 376 which deals with rape and section 384 of the IPC which deals with extortion.
According to the police, the actor not only raped the woman, but filmed the act. He later demanded money from her and threatened to release the video if she fails to pay.
Apart from his role in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, Karan Oberoi, who began his television career DD National show Swabhimaan, which was directed by Mahesh Bhatt, is also part of a band named 'Band of Boys'. He was also part of serials like Dishayen and Zindagi Badal Sakta Hai Hadsaa and the Amazon series Inside Edge.
