The MoU was signed by Lieutenant General S.M. Kamrul Hasan, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, on behalf of Bangladesh, and Netherlands Ambassador Joris Van Bommel on behalf of the Netherlands.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate, the agreement creates a new framework for cooperation in naval defence equipment, built on mutual respect and long-standing ties.

For Bangladesh, the MoU opens important avenues for expanding work in the naval defence industry, sharing operational knowledge, improving education and training, gaining access to technology transfer, and receiving logistical support when needed.

ISPR noted that the MoU will also increase the exchange of military experts, a step expected to help Bangladesh strengthen its naval defence capacity and support future planning.

The agreement is being viewed as a major milestone in Bangladesh’s ongoing efforts to modernise its naval forces, while building long-term strategic cooperation with the Netherlands.

Non-resident Defence Attaché Captain Geordie Klein, officials from the Netherlands Embassy, senior representatives from the Armed Forces Division, and officials from the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry were present during the signing.
