The Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas is a 4.5-generation, all-weather, multi-role fighter aircraft designed to meet the diverse operational needs of the Indian Air Force. Built as a true multi-role platform, Tejas is capable of undertaking offensive air support, close combat, ground attack roles and ground maritime operations with ease.

The fighter features a compound tail-less delta configuration that increases its ability to carry a wide range of weapons, including bombs and missiles. With nine hardpoints, the Tejas is capable of firing a variety of weapons such as long-range beyond-visual-range (BVR) missiles, within-visual-range (WVR) missiles and bombs, delivering them with precision and accuracy.
For extended mission endurance, the aircraft is equipped with an in-flight refuelling (IFR) probe, enhancing its operational range. The IFR capability has been proven for both day and night operations, allowing Tejas to stay airborne longer and execute missions over greater distances.
At the heart of the aircraft is an open-architecture based mission computer that is indigenously designed. This provides interoperability, scalability and portability, enabling seamless upgrades and integration of new technologies over time. Handling is made easier and safer for pilots through a fully redundant quadruplex digital fly-by-wire flight control system, which ensures reliable performance even in critical situations.
Tejas is equipped with an AESA radar system that uses electronically scanned array technology and offers a low probability of interception. This gives the aircraft an advantage in detection and tracking while enhancing survivability in hostile environments.
