The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of Pakistan has come out with a patriotic song which appears to target India with a warning even as it urges Pakistani youth to join the army.
The song, 'Dushmana Sun' was released on YouTube a few days ago to mark the anniversary of Operation Swift Retort, conducted by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in February 2019, in response to the Indian Air Force's (IAF) airstrike on Balakot. PAF had shot down two Indian jets and captured one pilot, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman in the operation.
The song highlights the commitment of Pakistan's armed forces to defend the country even as it issues a warning to its enemies.
While there is no mention of India in the song, it features footage of Varthaman and a downed aircraft.
Releasing the song, ISPR wrote in Urdu:
"In the song, on behalf of the soldiers of the homeland, the pledge and the agreement have been expressed for the defense of the country.
February 27, 2019 is an important event in history that shows the professionalism of the armed forces and the determination of the Pakistani people.
On February 27, the Pak Air Force shot down 2 Indian fighter jets while violating the border boundary.
During the S operation, an Indian pilot, Abhinandan, was also captured.
On February 27, it is decided to renew that anyone who attacks the autonomy of the country will be punished.”
While the jingoism may have impressed some in Pakistan, Indian social media users trolled the song, saying Pakistan is trying to "brush under the carpet the much hyped Champions Trophy, which we all know is a disastrous campaign."
