With winter coming and soon, car enthusiasts in Jammu and Kashmir will have their eyes set on whatever vehicle ex-Chief Minister Omar Abdullah drives through the snow and rough terrain; car enthusiast that he is.
Seen before in a Land Rover and in a Toyota Land Cruiser, Abdullah on Monday took a desi vehicle for a spin—the brand-new and revamped Mahindra Thar. And, he had nothing but good things to say about it.
“Took dad for a spin in the new @MahindraRise Thar. What an amazing vehicle! I loved the short drive & can’t wait to take it for a longer one when it snows & off-road in to the mountains. Take a bow team Mahindra. Kudos @anandmahindra,” Abdullah tweeted.
The new Thar, with a Jeep Wrangler-esque redesign, brings a host of improvements to the older model including a longer wheelbase, higher ground clearance and revamped interiors.
It seems that more than Omar, it was his father Farooq who was most impressed by the Thar, as evidenced by Abdullah’s reply to a tweet by Anand Mahindra.
“Coming from you, that’s an enormous compliment! I know you’re very demanding of the cars you drive...” Mahindra tweeted, to which Abdullah replied, “Can you DM me a number on which dad can speak to you? He wanted to let you know first hand what he thinks of the Thar :D”
In 2014, Abdullah had appeared in an episode of Overdrive along with Abhay Deol, driving a snowmobile and later drifting a Mercedez-Benz GL-350 SUV on the snow.
