Physically disabled team can compete with any outfit: Kulkarni
Mumbai, Jul 25 (PTI) Former Mumbai wicket-keeper
Sulakshan Kulkarni, head coach of the Indian disability team
for the next months Physical Disability World Cricket Series,
said his squad is capable of competing with any side.
According to a media release issued by the All India
Cricket Association for Physically Challenged (AICAPC),
Kulkarni appreciated the efforts of former India pacers Umesh
Kulkarni and Karsan Ghavri for choosing "best 20 players" for
the tournament.
Kulkarni, who also was Mumbai's coach, compared
physically-challenged team to any able-body cricketers and
stressed that this team can compete with any team and some of
them are fit enough to play in the Indian Premier League
(IPL).
Meanwhile, former Mumbai Cricket Association Vice
President Vinod Deshpande, who is the team director (cricket
operations), clarified that though the BCCI has given consent
to AICAPC to represent India in the World series, no financial
support is coming from them.
The Physical Disability World Cricket Series will be
played in the United Kingdom from next month. PTI NRB
