Thane, May 19 (PTI) A fire broke out at a godown storing cardboard and a garage in Maharashtra's Thane city on Tuesday morning, and no casualties were reported in the incident, a civic official said.
    The blaze erupted around 7.40 am at a cardboard storage unit in Taricha Pada in the Kolshet area, said Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC).
    Personnel from the fire brigade and the disaster management cell rushed to the spot with two fire engines, a jumbo water tanker and a pickup vehicle, he said.
    "Efforts to extinguish the fire are still underway. As of now, no injuries have been reported in the incident," Tadvi said.
    Thick smoke engulfed the premises located near a bus stop, he said.
    According to officials, the blaze broke out at the cardboard storage unit and rapidly spread to a nearby garage.
    Tadvi said the exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, and investigations were underway.
