Maha Marathi author Asha Bage to get Janasthan Puraskar

Nashik, Jan 28 (PTI) Renowned Marathi author Asha Bage will be the recipient of the prestigious Janasthan Puraskar which is given to litterateurs for their contribution to the field of Marathi literature.

The award, instituted by Nashik-based Kusumagraj Pratishthan, will be presented to Bage at a ceremony to be held on March 10. The biennial award consists of Rs one lakh cash, a memento and a citation, a release said.
'Kusumagraj' was the pen name of Gyanpeeth-awardee the late 'Kusumagraj' aka V V Shirwadkar, a resident of Nashik.

Bage's collection of stories 'Marva' has won critical acclaim. Earlier, she was honoured with various awards including the Sahitya Akademi award for "Bhoomi", the collection of stories. Till 2018, she had 13 collections of short stories, seven novels and two other books to her credit.
Previous winners of Janasthan Puraskar included Vijay Tendulkar, V D Karandikar, Indira Sant, Madhu Mangesh Krnik to name a few.
