Bengal logs 234 new COVID-19 cases 8 more fatalities

    Kolkata, Jan 27 (PTI) The COVID-19 tally in West
Bengal rose to 5,68,884 on Wednesday as 234 more people tested
positive for the infection, a bulletin released by the state
health department said.
    Eight fresh fatalities pushed the toll to 10,139, the
bulletin said.
    At least 386 more people recuperated from the disease,
pushing the recovery rate in the state to 97.19 per cent.
    A total of 5,52,877 people have recovered from the
disease so far, the bulletin said.
    Kolkata reported 62 new cases, followed by North 24
Parganas district at 52.
    One fatality each was reported from Kolkata, South 24
Parganas, North 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Howrah, Purbo Medinipur,
Bankura and Jalpaiguri.
    Bengal currently has 5,868 active cases, while
78,94,508 samples have been tested till date, including 17,609
