We just want to be allowed to execute projects Jain on skywalk inauguration invitation

New Delhi, Oct 12 (PTI) Delhi PWD minister Satyendar Jain on Friday hit out at the Centre for not inviting any AAP minister to the inauguration of a skywalk at ITO here, saying the Arvind Kejriwal-led government just wants to do its work.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri will inaugurate the skywalk on Monday, which was funded by the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry and constructed by the Delhi Public Works Department.
Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal and BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi have been invited to the inaugural ceremony.
In response to a question by reporters over the issue, Jain said, "They (Centre) assigned the work. Our job was to construct the skywalk and they have assigned to themselves the responsibility of inaugurating it."
"Our work is being praised as we (Delhi PWD) have done a good job," he said, adding "We are happy. We just want to be allowed to execute projects, and they can do the inauguration."
Jain also said the design of the skywalk was initially a simple foot over bridge, but it was changed when he intervened.
Chief Minister Kejriwal in a tweet in Hindi said, "It doesn't matter. We are concerned about the work. The lives of residents of Delhi should be improve. That's all."
The over 600-metre-long skywalk will connect Sikandra Road, Mathura Road, Tilak Marg and Bahadurshah Zafar Marg with Pragati Maidan and ITO Metro stations and the Supreme Court.
Authorities are expecting a footfall of nearly 30,000 per day once the skywalk becomes operational.
Around 25 major offices are located in the ITO area, including the Delhi Police and PWD headquarters, Institute of Engineers, Income Tax office, Central Excise, DDA office, School of Planning and Architecture and the Supreme Court, PTI BUN NSD
