Vineet Kumar Singh’s 'Siya' to premiere on ZEE5 on June 16

Mumbai, Jun 9 (PTI) Streaming platform ZEE5 on Friday announced the world digital premiere of Vineet Kumar Singh-starrer “Siya” on June 16.
The social drama film is directed by Manish Mundra, known for backing movies such as “Newton”, “Masaan”, “Ankhon Dekhi” and “Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi”. The movie hit theatres last year.
Singh said he is looking forward to the digital premiere of the film.
“I agreed to be a part of this film as I believed in the story and the message this film delivers. 'Siya' incorporates scenes that almost mirror the society at large which is terrorising, and I hoped that this film could serve as a wakeup call for many.
"While it was released in theatres, there are still many who haven’t heard about this film or watched it. It is my sincere request to them to watch it on ZEE5 as it is an important story to be told and to be watched,” the actor said in a statement.
Also starring debutant actor Pooja Pandey, the movie is the tale of a small-town girl Siya, who despite all hurdles, decides to take down patriarchy and fight for justice after she is kidnapped and raped.
Mundra, who has also produced the movie via his banner Drishyam Films, said he is glad to have partnered with ZEE5.
"Content driven cinema has been the core essence of Drishyam. We are glad to have partnered with ZEE5 who’s equally passionate about such content. Siya’s journey is that of a fighter who takes it upon herself to right the wrong done to her," he said.
Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer, ZEE5 India said, they are proud to present the film to its audience.
"This hard-hitting film is a reflection of the society we live in, and it deserves every bit of our attention. We hope that the film delivers not only performance wise but also in its endeavour to spark a change in people’s mindset and outlook," Kalra said.
Mundra won the best debut director award for "Siya" at the UK Asian Film Festival 2023.
