Will Michael Olise replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool?

Michael Olise, 23, is being considered one of Europe’s brightest young attacking talents

The French winger, who can also play as an attacking midfielder, currently plays for Bayern Munich though he was born in England and grew up in London

Liverpool see Olise as the ideal successor to the 33-year-old Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah. They are seeking a left-footed player on the right wing who likes to cut inside. Olise is technically sound and provides excellent delivery

Olise honed his skills in the academies of English clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, before joining Reading's academy in 2017

His breakthrough season came in 2020-21 with Reading, when he won the EFL Young Player of the Season award

Olise moved to Crystal Palace in 2021, and completed a permanent transfer to Bayern Munich in 2024, for a reported €60 million fee

He ended the Bundesliga season with 12 goals and 15 assists, finishing as the league's top assist provider

Internationally, Olise represents France, despite being eligible to play for England, Nigeria, and Algeria

He has represented France at various youth levels, and made his senior debut in September 2024. He already has three goals in seven international appearances
