Minutemen, are a unit of law enforcers. They are armed with time-manipulating devices that can reset altered timelines.
Then there are the Hunters, who are tasked with “pruning” timelines that branch off of the course of the Sacred Timeline. They are also in charge of making rule-breaking variants stand trial before the TVA’s judges. | Twitter
However, all these authoritarian ways change, 'The Loki S2' shows. TVA comes to the conclusion that all lives matter and billions of people can't be simply pruned because they existed outside the Sacred Timeline. | Twitter
So, the TVA stops its genocidal tendencies and enforces all its resources to protect the multiverse and keep tabs on Kang variants. | Twitter
The Loki we see in the series is a variant due to escaping the Battle of New York at the end of The Avengers. He then meets another variant of himself -- Sylvie (yes, a woman). Sylvie hates TVA as Hiddleston's Loki decides to help her. The duo eventually find themselves at the end of time, encountering Jonathan Majors's "He Who Remains." | Twitter
HWR reveals to the Lokis that the Sacred Timeline and the TVA were his creations. After his multiple variants met, they launched battles at each other -- causing multiversal wars. Learning his lesson, He Who Remains created the Sacred Timeline to avoid "wars that crossed time and space." | Screengrab

Deadpool 2 revolved heavily around time travel. Remember how he popped Green Lantern-ready Ryan Gosling before visiting baby Hitler (and many other things)? Given the TVA's interest in the area, it was certain that the 'Merc With A Mouth' appeared on their radar. | Twitter
