Lok Sabha polls Phase 2 witnesses low turnout; Tripura sees highest polling

Extending low voter turnout in the first round (64%), the Phase 2 of Lok Sabha elections also saw a dip in the number of voters heading to polling booths. Around 63.5% polling was recorded as per initial estimates.

Tripura recorded the highest turnout at 79.46%, followed by Manipur at 77.32%.

In Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir and West Bengal, the voter turnout was 73.55%, 71.91% and 71.84% respectively.

Kerala, where all 20 seats went to polls during Phase 2, recorded 70.21 per cent polling.

Uttar Pradesh and Bihar witnessed the lowest voter turnout at 54.85% and 55.08% respectively.

In Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, the voter turnout was reported at 57.76% and 56.32% respectively.

Karnataka recorded 68.26% turnout with the three seats in Bengaluru Urban recording an average of 53.46% polling.
