After winning the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, Venezuela opposition leader Maria Corina Machado said the award was a recognition of the "struggle of all Venezuelans." She went on to dedicate the Nobel to the “suffering people" of her country and to US President Donald Trump for his “decisive support" for the her country's democratic movement.
Taking to X, Maria Corina Machado posted, "This recognition of the struggle of all Venezuelans is a boost to conclude our task: to conquer Freedom."

"We are on the threshold of victory and today, more than ever, we count on President Trump, the people of the United States, the peoples of Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies to achieve Freedom and democracy," she added.
Mentioning the US president once again in her post, Maria Corina Machado said, "I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!"

Earlier on Friday, the Nobel committee said Maria Corina Machado was picked for the coveted award “for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy."
Maria Corina Machado who recorded a thumping victory in the 2023 primary polls was banned from contesting the 2024 election against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
This is not the first time that Maria Corina Machado has lauded Trump. Earlier, she praised the Republican for his "unwavering support" for Venezuela's democratic transition.
Trump too had previously warned Maduro against arrest of Machado, saying, "These freedom fighters should not be harmed."
