Twitter has several items from an espresso machine to the iconic blue bird from its headquarters in San Francisco for auction online.
After lay-offs, the auction organised by Heritage Global Partners is the latest sign of upheaval at the company.
After slashing the company's workforce, and falling behind on rent and contract obligations, Twitter under the mercurial billionaire is now auctioning off memorabilia, fancy office furniture and professional kitchen equipment from its San Francisco offices, where large swaths now sit empty and free meals are a relic of the past, AP reported.
The social media platform's iconic blue bird is priced at $11,000 with just under 24 hours left to bid-- it already received a bid of $30,000. Also under the gavel is a 6ft planter in the shape of an @ symbol, which is already fetching $4,300.
Other items up for auction include stationary bike stations, a range of designer chairs, coffee machines and iMacs. Also being auctioned off are corporate office assets like industrial-scale kitchenware, whiteboards and desks to less typical office supplies such as quirky signage and over100 boxes of KN95 face masks.
Ever since Musk had taken over, besides laying off 7,500 employees, Musk also got rid of perks like free meals. Most of Musk's wealth is tied to his ownership of Tesla shares. He sold nearly $23 billion worth of the electric vehicle company's stock to fund the purchase in April when he started building a position at Twitter. He's even lost the top spot for the world's wealthiest person, according to Forbes, AP reported.
