Russia on Sunday claimed its recent strike killed about 600 Ukrainian soldiers. Russia said it launched massive rocket strikes to avenge the deaths of Russian soldiers who got killed in a recent strike by Ukraine on occupied regions.

More than 600 Ukrainian soldiers got killed in a massive rocket strike on buildings in eastern Ukraine temporarily housing Ukrainian forces, Reuters reported quoting Russian defence ministry. The publication, quoting the ministry, reported the alleged strike in the city of Kramatorsk was revenge for Ukraine's deadly attack earlier this year on a Russian barracks in Donetsk region controlled by Russia. The defence ministry claimed that they used reliable intelligence to attack Ukraine troops. Ministry claimed more than 700 Ukrainian troops were housed in one

hostel and over 600 in another.

Ukraine attacked a temporary deployment facility with four US-supplied Himars missiles at Makiivka on January 2. Russian defence ministry said 63 of its troops got killed in the attack. Though Ukraine's military did not claim the strike they said the death toll could go upto 400 personnel.
