Ukrainian forces launched strikes on a Russia-occupied area in Donetsk region reportedly killing scores of mobilised Russian soldiers. Russia in a statement said 63 of its soldiers got killed and Ukrainian forces claimed the death toll may go higher.

According to reports, Ukraine attacked a temporary deployment facility with four US-supplied Himars missiles at Makiivka. Russian defence ministry said 63 of its troops got killed in the attack. Though Ukraine's military did not claim the strike they said the death toll could go upto 400 personnel.

Reuters quoting Daniil Bezsonov, a senior Russian-backed regional official in the Moscow-controlled parts of the Donetsk region reported that the vocational college was hit by US-made HIMARS rockets at around midnight.

The Guardian reported if the numbers are confirmed, the strike in Makiivka would be one of the deadliest known incidents involving conscripts since the start of the mobilisation drive at the end of September.

Russia launched drone strikes on Ukraine on Monday as well targeting critical infrastructure.
