A US court will hold a pre-trial meeting on Monday regarding a civil lawsuit filed by a woman alleging that Prince Andrew sexually assaulted her, an AP report reads. The two sides will debate whether the documents in the case over the alleged assault of Virginia Roberts Giuffre have been presented to the prince.

Giuffre has alleged that Queen Elizabeth II’s son, the 61-year-old Prince Andrew had sexual relations with her when she was aged 16 and 17. Giuffre accused long-convicted Jeffrey Epstein of coercing her into having sexual relations with the Prince.

According to Virginia Roberts Giuffre's attorney, the documents were handed over to a Metropolitan police officer on duty at the main gate of Andrew's home in Windsor Great Park on August 27.

The case’s first pre-trial conference will be held via teleconference by Judge Lewis Kaplan of the Southern District Court for the Southern District of New on Monday. The Prince has denied allegations against him by 38-year-old Giuffre. And in a BBC interview said that he doesn’t recall having met her ever.

In November 2019, however, Prince Andrew stepped down from Royal duties after pictures indicating  his association with New York financier Jeffrey Epstein emerged. The prince has also previously said that he ‘unequivocally’ regrets the ‘ill-judged association’ with Epstein and that he is willing to help law enforcement agencies in their investigations.

Guiffre's lawyer, David Boies, said in court documents that Andrew's ignorance of the case was absurd.

“The lawyers at Blackfords, which he apparently directed to avoid and appeal, confirmed that Prince Andrew himself was aware of this case and was assessing his chances of success. me,” Boies wrote.
