Former National Security Adviser in the Trump administration, Michal Flynn, at a conference in Texas said, a Myanmar-like coup “should happen” in the US. Flynn was talking at an event titled, ‘For God & and Country Patriot Roundup,’ which was rumoured to be attended by supporters of the QAnon conspiracy theory.

As Flynn was speaking, a member of the audience asked, "I want to know why what happened in Myanmar can’t happen here?” To this, Flynn replied, "No reason. I mean, it should happen here.”

On February 1, the military in Myanmar overthrew the civilian government and the country has been in a state of turmoil ever since. Protestors have been taking to the streets, demanding the release of civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi. At least 840 people have lost their lives so far in clashes between the protestors and military forces.

Flynn, last week had said, "Trump won. He won the popular vote, and he won the Electoral College vote," CNN reported.

Flynn, former President Trump's first national security adviser was fired in 2017. Flynn, who had pleaded guilty to lying in special prosecutor Robert Mueller's Russian collusion investigation was granted a full pardon in November.

In December 2020, after Joe Biden was declared winner of the elections, Flynn suggested that Trump should deploy the military to ‘rerun’ the election.
