Prince Harry and Meghan Markle release statement on Prince Philip’s passing

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, post the passing of the prince’s grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh, paid a tribute to Prince Philip with a message on their archewell.com

The couple, in January 2020 stepped back from duties as senior royals. In a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, the couple accused members of the royal family of racism. The couple now lives in the US. The couple is likely to travel to the UK for the funeral. while prince Harry would attend the funeral, whether or not the heavily pregnant Markle would join him, remains unclear. Markle, pregnant with the couple’s second baby, is due to give birth in the summer. They would be subject to quarantine for at least five days. 

“In loving memory of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, 1921-2021. Thank you for your service... You will be greatly missed,” the web site's home page reads.  

The Duke of Edinburgh had been ailing in recent months. He was hospitalised in February and underwent a heart procedure on March 4. The prince, who had been married to Queen Elizabeth II for 70 years, died peacefully. 

Post the interview, Harry reuniting with his brother Prince William and father Prince Charles would be awkward.
