British regulators on Thursday said they have found 30 cases of blood clot cases after receiving jabs of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. UK's regulatory board, the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency said no such clotting incidents were reported after the use of vaccines by BioNTechSE and Pfizer Inc.

Canada, France, Germany and Spain are among nations that have suspended the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine over fears of possible blood clots.

A 44-year-old man in Melbourne, days after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine was admitted to a hospital after he complained of thrombosis and low platelet count or blood cells that stop bleeding. Australian healthcare experts are currently investigating whether the case is related to the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine; hasn't suspended the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine yet.

"There is not a higher overall rate of relatively common types of blood clots... reported after COVID-19 vaccination," Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation told Reuters.

Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency on March 18, had reported five cases of rare brain clot from among 11 million administered shots of the AstraZeneca vaccine. Health experts have said that the benefits of the vaccine far outweigh any risk of blood clots. The clot is causing an alarm as it is being formed in the veins that run from the brain, a potentially fatal complication.

The UK has so far administered a total of 35.6 million vaccine doses.
