Two people in New Zealand were killed on Friday and two others were injured in a stabbing incident in an Auckland home. One of the injured is undergoing surgery for life-threatening injuries. The incident took place at a home in the suburb of Epsom.

Detective Inspector Scott Beard told AP that the investigation is still in its early stages.
Beard also said they had spoken to the fourth person who suffered superficial injuries and said they weren't looking for anybody else in connection to the attack.

“A double homicide is a tragedy and there are going to be family members out there who are grieving,” Beard said.

The motive behind the stabbings or a detailed account of what happened isn't available yet.

The police were called to the house at 11.30 am and found three people in critical condition. Two of them-- a man and a woman died at the scene. The four seemed to know each other, the police said.

Epsom MP David Seymour said he was shocked and saddened by the incident.
