In another attempt to meddle in India’s internal affairs, Pakistan’s ruling party on Monday extended support to activist Disha Ravi who was arrested from Bengaluru on Saturday in connection with the spreading of an online ‘toolkit’ for ongoing farmers’ protest on the outskirts of Delhi.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led by Prime Minister Imran Khan said in a tweet that India under Narendra Modi and the RSS regime believes in silencing all voices against them.

"India under Modi/RSS regime believes in silencing all voices against them... now they have also taken Disha Ravi for custody over Twitter toolkit case. #IndiaHijackTwitter," the party said.

The Imran Khan government’s official Twitter handle has also shared a video clip where Disha is seen being taken to police custody.

The PTI’s support to the Indian activist comes even as the Pakistan administration has been facing criticism for not taking enough measures to protect its minority communities.

Disha, the 21-year-old climate activist, has been sent to five-day police custody by a Delhi court.

The ‘toolkit’ triggered a social media storm after Swedish teen activist Greta Thunberg shared it on Twitter. According to police, it was Disha who, along with others, created the online document and shared it with Thunberg.

In the document, various urgent actions, including creating a Twitter storm and protesting outside Indian embassies, were listed which were needed to be taken to support the farmers' protest.

The police had earlier said that the 'toolkit' predated and indicated a copycat execution of a conspiracy behind the January 26 violence in Delhi.

Thousands of farmers, protesting against the new farm laws passed by the Centre, clashed with police and stormed the Red Fort, where a religious flag was hoisted on the Republic Day. Over 500 police personnel were injured and one protester died.
