Joe Biden’s team is moving ahead with transitioning after Donald Trump called on his agencies to cooperate. "I am recommending that Emily and her team do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and have told my team to do the same," Trump said of Emily Murphy, the General Services Administration chief.

Biden has picked key positions for his cabinet before he officially takes over from President Trump in January.

For chief of White House staff, he picked Ron Klain. Janet Yellen would serve as treasury secretary. Yellen will not only be the first woman to hold the position, but the first person to have headed the Treasury, the central bank and the White House Council of Economic Advisers, a Wall Street Journal report reads— the three most powerful economic positions in the nation.

Antony Blinken would be named Secretary of State, and replace Mike Pompeo, who currently holds the position.

Special Presidential Envoy for Climate would be John Kerry. This would be a key position as it would entail persuading leaders sceptical about climate change in the administration.

Secretary of Homeland Security is Alejandro Mayorkas. Mayorkas was the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security under Obama. This makes Mayorkas the first Latino to hold the position.

Born in Havana, Mayorkas led the implementation of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program— Biden intends to restore the policy.

National Security Adviser would be Jake Sullivan, while Director of National Intelligence is Avril Haines. Biden, with this, has picked a culturally diverse cabinet.
